Evgenia Sifaki

Evgenia Sifaki is Assistant Professor at the Departhment of Early Childhood Education, University of Thessaly. She has studied English Literature in Thessaloniki (Aristotle University) and London. She obtained her Ph.D. from King’s College London in 1997 (titled Identity in Travel: Nineteenth-Century English Poets in Italy). She teaches the courses “Introduction to Literary Theory”, “Literature, Discourse and ideology” and “Gender Studies and Literature”. She also teaches at the Hellenic Open University, a course on The History of European Literature. Past experience includes an adjunct lectureship at the English Department, University of Athens (2003-2006) and a research fellowship at the Seeger Center for Hellenic Studies, Princeton (2013). Her research interests include nineteenth and early twentieth-century literature and literary theory (with an emphasis on gender studies, post-colonial studies and theories of literary reception). She has written a book in Greek, Gender Studies and Literature (Kallipos, 2015), has edited the e-encyclopedia on issues of gender and equality FyloPedia (run by the University of Athens). She has also published several essays in Greek and International Collective Volumes and Journals, such as Synthesis (Athens), European Journal of English Studies (EJES) (London), Victorian Literature andCulture (Cambridge), ÉtudesIrlandaises (Paris), Gramma (Thessaloniki), MuseumEdu (Volos), Keimena (Volos).
