Alexandra Tranta

Alexandra Tranta works for the Department of Museums of the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation (PIOP). She has studied history and archaeology and holds a postgraduate specialization degree in museological studies and a doctoral degree in archaeology. She is currently writing a second doctoral thesis titled «Museological and educational approach of prehistoric collections in Greece» as a post-doctoral thesis at the University of Thessaly under the supervision of Ms Irini Nakou, assistant professor, part of which has been funded by Greece's State Scholarships Foundation.
She is the author of a monograph, of two books published by PIOP in the series «Our Museums», as well as of articles in journals, and has participated in Greek and international conferences. She has collaborated in the museological conception of exhibitions and has written museum texts for the City of Athens Cultural Organization and PIOP. She is the curator of Loukia Richards' contemporary art exhibition, which will be presented in May 2011 in Brussels.
She has conceived and implemented various educational programmes and activities and has participated in the conception, drafting and editing of educational material for museums.
She has worked as a lecturer at the University of Thessaly and the Popular University.
